The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands: Grand Tour

Marina Bay Sands, rebuilt in sugar.

The 4:5 cut. Press Sound: these were made to be heard.

The resort is the subject rather than the backdrop.

The three towers and the SkyPark are rebuilt out of quilted panelling with top handles in neon green, and palm trees, cars and shopping bags fill in around them until the whole thing reads as one continuous landscape rather than a product grid.

The character

A gummy bear in sunglasses walks the tour. He is the reason the landscape reads as somewhere you visit rather than a product still: there is someone in it, at the scale of a toy, and everything around him is sized to him.

A green gummy bear wearing sunglasses, modelled in 3D.
Drag to turn him. This is the studio's own bear, the same model the clients conveyor runs on, not the campaign's export.

How it was made

One build, framed three ways. The same twenty-six seconds were cut to 1:1, 4:5 and 9:16, so the square, the feed and the vertical are one journey at three shapes rather than three separate edits.

Framing in the render rather than cropping in CSS is the reason the vertical still has a composition. A single master cropped three ways would have thrown the sides away and left the tallest cut emptiest.

The square cut: the candy resort seen wide, towers centred.1:1
The feed cut: the same scene tightened, palms entering at the right.4:5
The vertical cut: the towers stacked up the frame with sky above.9:16
The same moment in all three cuts. The camera is moved for each, so the vertical is composed rather than cropped: nothing is lost off the sides.
