Beekman 1802: Hershey’s

The lock-up, cast in chocolate.

From the delivered film.

The type is not drawn on, it is poured, so the letters arrive at the speed the chocolate does.

Letterforms sit recessed in a white surface and fill one at a time until the two names read together, so the lock-up assembles itself rather than appearing.

Chocolate has to behave like chocolate: pour thick, catch the light on the way in, settle flat without reading as paint. The letterforms stay crisp only if the fill stops at the right moment.
